Nidhi Tiwari Appointed as PM Modi’s Private Secretary
Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Nidhi Tiwari has been given a major responsibility as the Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Before this, she was working as a Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). While serving in this role, she also worked closely with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.
Nidhi Tiwari cleared the Civil Services Examination in 2013, securing the 96th rank. Before cracking UPSC, she worked as an Assistant Commissioner in Varanasi while preparing for the exam. Through hard work and dedication, she not only passed UPSC but also won the Best Officer Trainee Award from the Ministry of External Affairs in 2014.
During her time as Deputy Secretary in the PMO, she handled foreign affairs and security matters, reporting directly to NSA Ajit Doval. Nidhi Tiwari originally hails from Mahmoorganj, Varanasi, but currently, her family resides in Delhi.

What will be the Nidhi Tiwari Salary?
According to reports, the salary of a Private Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office is determined as per Pay Matrix Level 14. The monthly salary for this position is ₹1,44,200, along with various allowances such as house rent, dearness allowance, and travel benefits.
As PM Modi’s Private Secretary, Nidhi Tiwari will now manage the Prime Minister’s daily work, including meetings and other official duties.
Nidhi Tiwari's Journey in Civil Services
According to News18, Nidhi Tiwari secured the 96th rank in the Civil Services Examination, 2013. She is originally from Mehmurganj, Varanasi.
Before joining the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), she briefly worked at the Ministry of External Affairs in the Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division.
Before clearing UPSC, she worked as an Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax) in Varanasi while preparing for the exam along with her job.
At the PMO, she served as Deputy Secretary in the Foreign and Security department, which reports to National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. She was responsible for External Affairs, Atomic Energy, Security Affairs, and Rajasthan.

Before joining the PMO, Nidhi Tiwari worked in the Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Her knowledge of international relations helped her make important contributions to India’s foreign policy and security matters during her time at MEA.
Nidhi Tiwari’s Connection to Varanasi
Nidhi Tiwari has had a connection with Varanasi, PM Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency, since his first election in 2014. Her hometown, Mahmoorganj, is an important part of this parliamentary seat.
