India Eyes Champions Trophy Glory as New Zealand Gears Up for Battle

We know that the final match of the Champions Trophy 2025 is being played today between India and New Zealand, and it is going to be a very thrilling match. If India wins, it will be a matter of great pride for us.

India is the favourite to win the Champions Trophy final in Dubai on Sunday, but they will face a strong challenge from New Zealand. This is the first major white-ball final between the two teams in 25 years.

India has been dominant in the tournament, winning all four of their matches in the UAE. They even defeated New Zealand by 44 runs in the group stage last weekend. The team, which refused to play in host country Pakistan, has performed well on spin-friendly pitches. Their batting lineup, led by Virat Kohli, has been impressive, especially in run chases against Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Australia.

India is looking to win back-to-back ICC trophies after their victory in last year’s T20 World Cup. However, coach Gautam Gambhir remains focused on the upcoming final.

“We have one more game to go,” Gambhir told reporters. “We know we are a good one-day team. What matters most is how we have played in this tournament.”

He praised the team’s hunger, commitment, and desire to win for the country.

Mohammed Shami has stepped up in place of injured pacer Jasprit Bumrah, and all-rounder Hardik Pandya has added depth to the batting order. Captain Rohit Sharma is happy with the form of his key players before the final.

“When you play in a final, you want all your players to be in form,” Rohit said. “Our players have made an impact whenever they got a chance, and that gives us a lot of confidence.”

Despite their strong performances, India will not take New Zealand lightly. The Black Caps defeated India by four wickets in the final of the 2000 Champions Trophy, then called the ICC KnockOut Trophy.

New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson believes his team can pull off another upset in a big final.

“That win was a long time ago, but it was a great moment for our country,” said Williamson. “A lot has changed since then, but this final is another exciting opportunity for us.”

India has an advantage because they have played all their matches in Dubai, but Williamson believes anything can happen in a final.

“The atmosphere was great in the last game, and I expect the same for the final,” he added.

New Zealand enters the match after a strong semi-final win against South Africa, where they posted the highest-ever Champions Trophy total of 362-6. Rachin Ravindra and Williamson both scored centuries in that game, showing excellent form.

Their spin attack, led by captain Mitchell Santner, along with Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips, and Ravindra, could trouble India. India will be aiming to surpass Australia in the Champions Trophy winners’ list. Australia has won the tournament twice, in 2006 and 2009.

New Zealand will also hope that pace bowler Matt Henry recovers from the shoulder injury he suffered against South Africa.

Santner acknowledged that pitch conditions will play a key role in their strategy.

“The surface will determine how we approach the game,” he said. “It might be a little slower than what we played on in Lahore, so the match could be a tough battle.”

India’s four-pronged spin attack troubled New Zealand in their last match, and the Black Caps will need to find a way to handle it better this time.

As the two teams prepare for the final, cricket fans around the world are eagerly waiting to see who will lift the trophy in Dubai. With both teams in great form, the match promises to be an exciting contest.
