Greater Noida Dowry Death Case
Nikki, a young woman from Greater Noida, was brutally beaten and then burned alive by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands. Her sister Kanchan, who is also married in the same family, shared shocking details of the incident in an interview with NDTV.
Dispute Going On for 8–9 Days
According to Kanchan, Nikki and her husband Vipin had been fighting for the past 8–9 days. She said that Vipin was having an affair with another woman, which Nikki found out about. This caused regular arguments between them.
Everything Was Planned
On August 21, the fights turned violent. Kanchan revealed that Nikki was beaten badly by her husband and in-laws before being set on fire. Kanchan even recorded a video during the assault to show that it was not a “drama” but real cruelty. She said the attack was not sudden, but planned in advance.
Violence Even Before
Kanchan also mentioned that Nikki was beaten earlier on February 11. At that time, even clients at their makeup studio saw the assault. A family meeting (panchayat) was held, and Nikki returned to her parents’ home. Later in March, she went back to her husband’s house, but the violence started again.
Dowry Was Still Not Enough
Kanchan said that despite their father giving a top-model Scorpio car, a Bullet bike, and cash as dowry, Nikki’s husband still demanded more money. He wanted money to buy things for other girls he was involved with.
Tried to Save Her
Kanchan said she tried her best to save her sister but couldn’t. “I saw her being burned alive right in front of my eyes,” she said.
Multiple Affairs of Husband
Kanchan also claimed that Vipin had affairs with many women. Last year, the family even caught him red-handed with another woman in Delhi. There are photos and videos as proof.
Currently, Nikki’s husband has been taken into police custody, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other family members involved.
Why Dowry is a serious matter?
Dowry is very serious matter now days. Everyday daughter of someone, sister of someone are victim of Dowry. I don’t know why people are believing on dowry and demanding dowry. Some of father and her parents are giving dowry more than expectation. Those family demanding dowry after the marriage they have to think about it, because they may have also daughter, sister.
In India this is very serious matter and government have to take a hard decision and try to stop this.
I want to say that to all boys who are demanding Dowry after marriage, if you are not able to take care of your wife, if you are not capable to give good life of your wife and also not able to do job then you don’t have a right to get marry and also not right to spoil life of any daughter and sister.
I also want to say that to that father and mother who are demanding dowry after marriage and beating her daughter in-law and also punish her every day, you stop this nonsense because you people don’t forget that you have also a daughter.
How Dowry System can Stop?
To stop dowry anyone of have to take stand but I want to just clear that what happening in real life. If any parents do not demand dowry and they get their son married in some family and if they have a daughter of their own and when they get their daughter married then they have to give dowry.
Its means if I have not taken dowry then also I will not give dowry for my sister marriage. But in real life this is totally opposite. Again this is big question how it can be stopped?
