IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians Beat Rajasthan Royals by 100 Runs, Reach Top of the Points Table

IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians Beat Rajasthan

On 1st May 2025, Mumbai Indians played an exciting match against Rajasthan Royals and defeated them by a massive 100 runs. With this win, Mumbai Indians secured their 6th victory of the season in IPL 2025.

Mumbai scored 217 runs in 20 overs, losing only 2 wickets. This match was played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Rajasthan Royals, in reply, could not chase the target and were all out, giving MI a huge win.

Mumbai on a Winning Streak

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have now won six matches in a row, and with this, they have climbed to the top of the IPL 2025 points table. This is the third time in IPL history that Mumbai Indians have won six matches consecutively in a single season. They first did this in 2008, then again in 2017, and now in 2025.

Interestingly, whenever Mumbai has won five or more consecutive matches, they have almost always reached the final — except in 2008. In 2017, they even won the title. If this pattern continues, Mumbai Indians may reach the final again this year.

Strong Leadership and Team Performance

Though Rohit Sharma is not the captain this season, his performance has been key. Now, Hardik Pandya is leading the team, and he has already proved himself by winning the title with Gujarat Titans earlier. Suryakumar Yadav is also in great form, contributing to the team’s success.

MI’s Powerful Batting and Record Defense

This was the 17th time Mumbai Indians have scored more than 200 runs while batting first and successfully defended the target. Remarkably, they have never lost a match after scoring over 200 while batting first — maintaining a 100% win record in such cases.

MI's Biggest Wins by Run Margin

146 runs vs Delhi Capitals (2017) – biggest win

102 runs vs KKR (2018)

100 runs vs Rajasthan Royals (2025) – third biggest win

With this victory, Mumbai Indians have played 11 matches, won 7, and now have 14 points, putting them at the top of the table. Though RCB also have 14 points, MI is ahead due to a better Net Run Rate (NRR). In fact, MI is the only team this season with an NRR of more than +1.
