The attack took place late Wednesday night at around 2:30 AM on the 12th floor of the Guru Sharan Apartments in Khar, Mumbai. The attacker entered Saif’s residence and assaulted him with a knife.
Saif suffered injuries in six places, including his neck, back, arms, and head. He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital that night.
The actor also sustained two deep wounds on his left hand and a severe injury to his neck, which required plastic surgery. Saif’s condition is now stable.

DCP Gedam Dixit of Mumbai Police stated that one of the attackers has been identified. The suspect entered the house with the intent to steal. He accessed the apartment using the stairs and fled the same way after the attack.
According to reports, the attacker was captured on CCTV footage and was seen on the sixth floor of the building. Police have registered a case of forced entry and attempted murder.
3 people including the actor's maid were taken for questioning
Police stated that three people, including the injured housekeeper, were taken to the police station for questioning from Saif’s house. Initial investigations revealed that someone inside the house had allowed the attacker to enter. There were no signs of forced entry..

In the official statement of Saif’s team, it was said that an attempt of theft was made at Saif Ali Khan’s house. Ariama Philip alias Lima, a maid of Saif’s house, was also injured in the attack.
