Explosion in army weapons factory in Maharashtra, Sound was heard up to 5KM

An explosion occurred at an army weapon factory in Bhandara, Maharashtra, on Friday at 10:30 AM. So far, 8 people have died, and 7 are seriously injured.

Bhandara Collector Sanjay Kolte stated that the factory’s roof collapsed due to the blast, and it is suspected that 13 to 14 people are trapped under the debris. Rescue operations are ongoing.

The explosion was so loud that it was heard up to 5 kilometers away. After the blast, pieces of metal and stone were scattered around.

According to official sources, the explosion happened in the LTP (Long-Term Planning) section of the factory located in the Jawahar Nagar area.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister and Nagpur MP Nitin Gadkari also confirmed that 13-14 people are trapped under the collapsed roof.

Explosion in RDX manufacturing branch

The blast occurred in the RKR branch section of the Ordnance Factory located in Jawaharnagar. This section is used to produce RDX, and the explosion happened here. The death toll is expected to rise. The building where the explosion took place has been completely destroyed. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has called this incident a failure of the Modi government.

In this factory in Bhandara, various types of explosives are made for the army, including those involving acid. The factory also has testing facilities and advanced laboratories. Spherical powder, an explosive used in small weapons, is also made here. This powder was first used during World War II. Since 1960, it has been made available for civilian use.

Defence Minister said – relief efforts continue

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “I am deeply saddened to learn about the explosion at the ordnance factory in Bhandara, Maharashtra. My condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. Rescue teams are deployed at the site, and all efforts are being made to provide assistance to those affected.”
