One of the good news waiting for the Central Government Employees and Pensioners. This good news come from the Government side. Government is going to increase the DA in coming month. Government last month also given one good news regarding the 8th Pay Commission. Government has announced to establishment of 8th pay commission and also said that, enough time to implement of 8th pay commission and expected to implement before ending the 7th pay commission.
I want to tell you that, Central Government Employees and Pensioners getting the salary under the 7th pay commission and it will be end by 31 December 2025.
How Much Dearness Allowance will Increase?
Here I want to tell you that, currently Central Government employee getting 53% DA of the basic and Government giving DA twice in a year i.e. every 6 month. 2025 has begun and January DA is pending. Government can announced DA soon before March and it will be applicable from January 2025. So government employees and pensioners will get the arrears also. Government can revise the DA soon and it can be increased up to 4% of basic salary of the employee.
DA is the allowance which is given by the Government to the employees and pensioner to adjust the inflation.
What is Dearness Allowance?
Dearness Allowance (DA) is a cost-of-living adjustment allowance paid to government employees, public sector workers, and pensioners in India. It is provided to help employees cope with inflation and rising prices. DA is calculated as a percentage of an employee’s basic salary and is revised periodically by the government.
DA given to the central Government employees and revised every six months based on CPI and other economic factors. This is also applicable for the State Government Employees and Pensioners.
The DA percentage is determined by the government based on the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI).
The DA rate is revised periodically, usually in January and July. The current DA for central government employees and pensioners is around 53% of basic pay.
The government periodically increases DA based on inflation and CPI changes. In 2024, the DA was raised by 7% and total DA is 53% for central government employees and pensioners.
Benefit of Dearness Allowance
It increases the overall salary of government employees and pensioners.
It directly affects pension payments for retired government employees.
Will 50% Merge in Basic Salary?
The employees also demanding to add 50% DA in Basic salary. Dearness Allowance merger also in news from the last year but government not given any good sign to implement this. Government may add 50% DA into the basic salary but if it will be implemented then I think the employees and pensioners will not get much benefit, reason is that 8th pay commission going to implement by January 2026. Because after implementation of 8th pay commission, total DA will be zero and from 3-4% DA will be start according to the 8th pay commission rule.
8th Pay Commission
Mainly I want to tell you what is pay commission? Those people who are in government jobs must have come to know about this from here. The salary revision of a government employee is called pay commission. The government has revised the salary of central government employees every 10 years. The first pay commission was implemented in 1947, since then the 7th pay commission has been given to the central government employee and pensioners, and the 7th pay commission will end by 01 January 2026.
The Union Cabinet has approved the 8th Pay Commission, which will suggest revisions for the salaries and pensions of central government employees. The government will review and decide on the recommendations once the pay panel submits its report.
Currently, central government employees receive salaries based on the 7th Pay Commission, which was implemented in 2016. The new salary revisions will depend on the ‘fitment factor’, a multiplier applied to the current basic pay.
The announcement of the 8th Pay Commission has raised curiosity about the salary hike for around 1.2 crore central government employees and pensioners
