This festival is a celebration of joy and happiness. We celebrate Holi on the full moon day of the month of Phagun (March).
Holi is known as the festival of colors because we celebrate it with colors. It is a festival where even enemies forget their differences and come together to celebrate. On Holi, we forget all disputes and enjoy with each other. People visit each other’s homes, play with colors, and have a great time together.
We Indians are known for celebrating festivals with great enthusiasm. There are many festivals in our country that are not celebrated anywhere else in the world, and many other countries are now inspired by our festivals. You might be surprised to know that Holi is now celebrated in foreign countries as well!
Why Do We Celebrate Holi? The Story Behind Holi
The love story of Krishna and Radha is famous all over the world. You may already know that Lord Krishna had a dark complexion while Radha had a fair complexion. Krishna often asked his mother, Yashoda, why he was dark while Radha was fair. In response, Yashoda told him to apply color on Radha’s face so that both of them would look the same. Taking his mother’s advice, Krishna, along with his friends, went to Radha and playfully applied colors to her. They all had great fun together. Since then, Holi has been celebrated as a festival of colors.
Even today, Holi is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Mathura and Vrindavan, the land of Krishna and Radha. Many people from different countries come to Mathura and Vrindavan to celebrate Holi and experience its joy.
Another popular story behind Holi is the victory of good over evil. It is believed that on this day, good triumphed over evil, which is why we celebrate Holi. Regardless of the stories behind it, Holi is a festival of happiness and togetherness.
Why Holi Is Very Important for Newly Married Couples?
Holi holds special significance for newly married couples, especially for those celebrating their first Holi after marriage.
This festival is particularly important for those who are deeply in love with their partners. People who love each other always prefer to celebrate Holi together. For women, Holi is especially significant—whether they have already considered someone as their husband, are newly married, or are about to get married. They enjoy applying gulaal (colored powder) to their husbands as a symbol of love.

One interesting fact is that in Bihar, a groom’s first festival after marriage is always celebrated in his in-laws’ house. This tradition is unique to Bihar and is not found anywhere else in India.

Many people may not know this, but Holi is no longer just an Indian festival. It is now celebrated in many other countries as well. The most amazing part is that many foreigners come to India just to celebrate Holi and experience its joy. होली क्यों मनाई जाती है और कब? सच्चाई जानिए
सबसे पहले मैं आपको बताना चाहता हूँ कि होली क्या है। होली हमारे देश का एक बहुत ही बड़ा और महत्वपूर्ण त्योहार है। यह पूरे भारत में हर राज्य, हर जिले, हर गाँव में धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। यह त्योहार खुशियों का प्रतीक है। हम होली फाल्गुन महीने (मार्च) की पूर्णिमा को मनाते हैं।
होली रंगों का त्योहार होता है, जिसमें हम एक-दूसरे के साथ रंग खेलते हैं। यह ऐसा पर्व है जहाँ लोग अपने दुश्मनों के साथ भी गिले-शिकवे भूलकर मिलते हैं और हंसी-खुशी इस पर्व को मनाते हैं। लोग एक-दूसरे के घर जाते हैं, रंग लगाते हैं और खूब मस्ती करते हैं।
हम भारतीय किसी भी त्योहार को मनाने में दुनिया में सबसे आगे हैं। हमारे यहाँ कई ऐसे त्योहार हैं जो किसी और देश में नहीं मनाए जाते और आजकल दूसरे देश भी हमारे त्योहारों से प्रेरित हो रहे हैं। आपको यह जानकर हैरानी होगी कि अब होली विदेशों में भी मनाई जाती है।
होली क्यों मनाते हैं? होली के पीछे की कहानी
श्रीकृष्ण और राधा का प्रेम तो पूरी दुनिया में प्रसिद्ध है। कहा जाता है कि श्रीकृष्ण सांवले थे और राधा गोरी थीं। श्रीकृष्ण हमेशा अपनी माँ यशोदा से पूछते थे कि वे सांवले क्यों हैं और राधा गोरी क्यों हैं? इस पर माँ यशोदा ने उनसे कहा कि जाओ और राधा को रंग लगा दो, तब तुम दोनों का रंग एक जैसा हो जाएगा। माँ की बात मानकर श्रीकृष्ण अपने सखाओं के साथ राधा और उनकी सखियों को रंग लगाने चले गए। इसी के बाद से रंगों के साथ होली मनाने की परंपरा शुरू हुई। आज भी मथुरा-वृंदावन में होली बहुत ही धूमधाम से मनाई जाती है और इसे देखने के लिए दुनियाभर से लोग यहाँ आते हैं।
होली मनाने के पीछे एक और कहानी है—प्रह्लाद और होलिका की। इस दिन बुराई पर अच्छाई की जीत हुई थी। हिरण्यकशिपु की बहन होलिका ने भक्त प्रह्लाद को जलाने की कोशिश की थी, लेकिन वह स्वयं ही जलकर राख हो गई और प्रह्लाद बच गए। इसलिए इस दिन होलिका दहन किया जाता है, जो बुराई के अंत और सच्चाई की जीत का प्रतीक है।
नवविवाहित जोड़ों के लिए होली का महत्व
हमारे यहाँ होली का बहुत ही विशेष महत्व होता है, खासकर उन जोड़ों के लिए जो शादी के बाद पहली बार यह त्योहार मना रहे होते हैं। यह प्यार करने वालों के लिए भी खास होता है। जो लोग अपने साथी से बहुत प्रेम करते हैं, वे सबसे पहले उनके साथ होली खेलना पसंद करते हैं। खासतौर पर लड़कियों के लिए यह त्योहार बहुत खास होता है। हर लड़की जो अपने पति को अपना सब कुछ मान चुकी होती है, वह उनसे गुलाल लगाने की उम्मीद रखती है।
रंग सिर्फ रंग नहीं होते, ये बहुत सारी खुशियाँ और प्यार लाते हैं। जब पति अपनी पत्नी को गुलाल लगाता है, तो उसे एक खास एहसास होता है, जैसे कि उसे दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी खुशी मिल गई हो। हर कोई अपनी पत्नी को इस दिन खास महसूस करा सकता है, चाहे वह नवविवाहित हो या शादी को कई साल हो गए हों।
एक खास बात यह है कि बिहार में नवविवाहित जोड़े के लिए होली बहुत ही खास होती है, क्योंकि शादी के बाद यह उनका ससुराल में पहला त्योहार होता है।
अब होली सिर्फ भारत में ही नहीं, बल्कि विदेशों में भी मनाई जाती है
आपको शायद यह पता न हो कि अब होली केवल भारत में ही नहीं, बल्कि दुनिया के कई देशों में भी मनाई जाने लगी है। कई विदेशी लोग होली मनाने के लिए भारत आते हैं और इस त्योहार का भरपूर आनंद उठाते हैं।
होली किसी धर्म से जुड़ी हुई नहीं है, यह हर किसी के लिए है। रंग सभी के होते हैं, यह भेदभाव को मिटाता है और आपसी प्रेम को बढ़ाता है। मुझे लगता है कि इस दिन पूरी दुनिया को रंगों में डूब जाना चाहिए और होली का आनंद लेना चाहिए।
