Vicky Kaushal’s Film ‘Chhaava’ Becomes Tax-Free in Goa
Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant announced that the movie Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, will be tax-free in Goa. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and was released in theatres on February 14.
Dr. Sawant shared the news on social media, saying, “It gives me great pleasure to announce that the movie ‘Chhaava,’ which is about the life and sacrifice of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be tax-free in Goa.” He added that the film highlights the bravery and patriotism of Sambhaji Maharaj, who fought against the Mughals and the Portuguese.
Box Office Success
Chhaava has performed exceptionally well at the box office. On its first day, it collected ₹31 crore in India, surpassing other historical films like Tanhaji and Kesari.
By the third day, the film earned ₹116.5 crore in India and ₹18.4 crore overseas, making its worldwide collection ₹100 crore. On its sixth day, Chhaava earned ₹32 crore, benefiting from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti holiday. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed that the film has crossed the ₹200 crore mark.
Star Cast and Popularity
The film features Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, along with Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Diana Penty, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Vineet Kumar Singh, and others. Due to its strong historical appeal, Chhaava has been especially successful in Maharashtra, with extra screenings added to meet high demand.

Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava has become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year. In just three days, the movie collected ₹116.5 crore (net) at the Indian box office, surpassing expectations and breaking records.

Released on February 14, Chhaava is produced by Maddock Films and directed by Laxman Utekar. The film is based on the life of Maratha King Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and his battle against Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
With strong support in Maharashtra, where Sambhaji Maharaj has a huge following, the movie has drawn large crowds. Due to high demand, many theatres have added extra shows.

On Sunday (Day 3), the movie’s earnings increased by 31.08%, collecting ₹48.5 crore. This took its total Indian collection to ₹116.5 crore.

Made on a budget of ₹130 crore, Chhaava had a fantastic start, collecting ₹31 crore on its first day—the highest-ever opening for a Vicky Kaushal film.
Worldwide Box Office Collection
By the third day, the movie earned ₹18.4 crore overseas, bringing its total global earnings to ₹100 crore. In India, it grossed ₹81.6 crore.
With strong advance bookings, Chhaava is expected to continue its successful run at the box office.
