Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah added excitement to Coldplay’s last concert in India on Sunday in Ahmedabad. The fast bowler was spotted in the audience during the Republic Day concert, where lead singer Chris Martin sang a special song for him. This moment followed Martin’s earlier mention of Bumrah during a Mumbai concert last week.
At the Ahmedabad show, Bumrah appeared near the end as the band performed on Stage B. Chris Martin, while interacting with the crowd, pointed to Bumrah on the big screen and sang an impromptu song for him, calling him the “best bowler in all of cricket.”
Chris Martin Reads a Letter from Bumrah's ‘Lawyer’
The connection between Coldplay and Bumrah began during their first concert in Mumbai last week, when Chris Martin mentioned his name. At the next show, Chris paused to read a playful “letter” from Bumrah’s lawyer. He joked, “Dear Coldplay, you mentioned Jasprit Bumrah without permission. It’s illegal. Who do you think you are, you silly Englishman? Jasprit Bumrah is the greatest bowler in the world, and you’re just a singer.”
Fans speculated this humorous exchange was a setup for Bumrah’s big appearance in Ahmedabad, his hometown.
Coldplay’s India Tour

The concerts, part of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour, were streamed live on Disney+ Hotstar. The Mumbai shows were a hit, with celebrities like Shreya Ghoshal, Suhana Khan, and Kajal Aggarwal enjoying the performances.
